Are scanned or image-only PDFs supported?: Scanned or image-only PDFs don’t contain selectable text to remove, and OCR introduces uncertainty.
Is any AI used to interpret the document?: No. PermanentRedaction does not summarize, interpret, or make recommendations. The workflow is deterministic and reviewable.
Is the output “court-safe”?: The goal is a defensible, submission-ready PDF: permanent text removal and an irreversible final PDF. Requirements vary by jurisdiction and policy; PermanentRedaction provides tooling, not legal advice.
What about metadata and hidden content?: Text removal targets content in the PDF text layer. The final export produces an irreversible PDF suitable for typical filing, sharing, and archival workflows. If you have strict policies, use the export mode intended for submission and long-term retention.
Will you store my documents?: Source uploads are retained only as long as necessary to process your job and are automatically removed on a short rolling schedule. You can delete them at any time. Redacted output files are retained according to your plan’s retention window and may also be deleted manually at any time.
